Students of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at the Puntland State University launch a Human Rights Club

On 8 June, 2015 Garoowe: Students of Sharia and Law Faculty for the Puntland State University (PSU) launched a Human Rights Club in the presence of Puntland government officials, PSU students and lectures.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor and the Dean of Sharia and Law Faculty Burhan Adan Omar, have enlightened the development stages and achievements of the Puntland State University in general and Faculty of Sharia and Law in Particular.

He stated that most of graduates at Faculty of Sharia and Law are currently holding good positions in the government, while some of them are part of prestigious organizations and companies in Puntland. He added that it was a great honor in achieving this success.

Mr. Burhan added that the Human Rights Club would be an integral part in strengthening justice, and human rights as well as being a unique mechanism in building the capacity of PSU students.

Meanwhile the chairman of the Human Rights Club for the Law faculty students Mustafe Ali Elmi said that the purpose of founding the club is to defend the rights of citizens adding that his club had already started its duty in protecting, and advocating the rights of the community.

Mr. Ali Mohamed (Gargaar) , Director for Administration Department for the ministry religious Affairs, said his ministry is enthusiastically welcoming the inception of the Human Rights Club because the ministry has played a key role in establishing the faculty of Sharia and Law at the Puntland State University.

Puntland Human Rights Defender Mohamed Yusuf Ali who closed the ceremony of launching Human Rights club for the students of Sharia and Law faculty urged the members and all students to protect individual and common rights of Somali people.
