Garowe, Puntland – The highly anticipated Puntland State University Students’ Development Association (PSUSDA) elections for 2025-2026 concluded successfully, marking another democratic milestone for the university’s student leadership. The elections, held under the one person, one vote system, witnessed strong competition among three major student parties: Union Student Party, Himilo Party, and Midnimo Party.

Candidates and Their Parties

The election saw three candidates vying for the leadership of PSUSDA for the next two years:

  • Abdihakim Mohamoud Ahmed (Cimbiriq) – Union Student Party
  • Abdiwahid Mohamed Farah – Himilo Party
  • Ahmed Faisal Ahmed – Midnimo Party

Election Results

After an intense campaign period and a high voter turnout, the final results were as follows:

  • Abdihakim Mohamoud Ahmed (Cimbiriq) – 33.9% (Union Student Party)
  • Abdiwahid Mohamed Farah – 41.9% (Himilo Party)
  • Ahmed Faisal Ahmed – 23.7% (Midnimo Party)

With 41.9% of the total votes, Abdiwahid Mohamed Farah from Himilo Party emerged victorious, securing the presidency of PSUSDA for the next two years.
